Pastor's Profile
I
received Jesus as my personal Savior at age 15. Many years prior to this, I felt
the Lord's hand upon my life. I have always felt the Lord had a special ministry
for me, but I did not think I was capable of what God was calling me to do.
In addition, my wife has always been
a support to me and has worked with me side by side in many church ministries
throughout the years. Thus, after much prayer and seeking the Lord's will for
our lives, we made a public surrender to the Gospel Ministry in August of 1988.
Therefore, after being led of God to seek higher education, I enrolled in
Florida Baptist Theological College in the Spring of 1989. Since this time God
has blessed our family in many, many ways.
During my years as a student in
Graceville, God called me to Pastor Haleburg Baptist Church. We had a fruitful
ministry there and continue to keep in contact with much of the membership. Yet,
God led us from Haleburg in January, 1994 to pursue a Master of Divinity degree
at Beeson Divinity School. Therefore, we moved to the Birmingham area.
As a student at Beeson, God called me
to Pastor Community Baptist Church in Maylene, Alabama in September, 1996. God
has accomplished great things through our ministry at Community Baptist. We have
been able to formulate and adopt a Constitution and By-laws, establish and
institute a deacon ministry, design and complete a 5278 square feet
educational/fellowship building, renovate the Worship Center and Youth House,
pave our parking area, double our Sunday School and Worship attendance, and
baptize about 30 new believers in Christ.
Once again, we felt the Lord
directing a change in our ministry. After much prayer and seeking His will, we
felt led to further our education. Therefore, we made application and were
accepted into the Ph.D. program at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in
Wake Forest, North Carolina. We began our studies in the Fall of 2004. Our area
of concentration is Old Testament Studies.
As we continue to be faithful to the
Lord, He continues to be faithful to us. Our ministry is a shared ministry in
the sense that God has called my wife to be a "helpmate" and a support to her
husband. Without this support, my ministry would be in vain. Therefore, the goal
of our ministry is to be exactly where God want us to be, when He wants us to be
there, to be obedient to His Word, to trust Him to open all the right doors, and
to give us the wisdom and the courage to step through those doors.
