Pinkney Missionary Baptist Church

(Women’s Missionary Union) is open to the ladies of the church. We meet the first Tuesday night of every other month, usually at a member’s home at 7:00pm. Each meeting begins with a devotion and is followed by a business meeting. The WMU sponsors several outreaching opportunities throughout the year.

 

The WMU has been sponsoring a Book bag Ministry with Northwest Elementary School since 2009.  We provide bags of food for families in need each week. We need items donated on an on-going basis or monetary donations to make this ministry possible. Below is a list of good items to send home with elementary students. We use small sized cans (16 oz maximum size). We pack enough items per bag to help supplement one child over the weekend.

“Prayer Partners” is a Mission project of the WMU. It is a way church members become more familiar with the church’s children and for them to be in prayer for their partner. Prayer is a powerful gift that we can do for one another, and it helps us get to know each other better. Please consider being a part of this ministry and help impact the life of child. We normally update our Prayer Partner list annually in August.

 

The WMU sponsors a Kitty Askins Hospice Center ministry. The facility needs snack items, bake goods, nabs, canned drinks, water bottles, etc. for their family canteen. We take items on the first Sunday of each month. If you are interested in participating with this ministry, please sign up for a month that is convenient for you.

 

The WMU sponsors a Ladies Banquet for our Sisters-in-Christ. The WMU prepares a meal with a guest speaker for an nice evening of fellowship. We also open this to any friends or relatives that the ladies would like to invite. It is a nice evening of fellowship for the ladies of our church.

 

The WMU sponsors a cookie ministry several times through out the year. We bake cookies, brownies, and bake goods. We deliver the goodies to organizations, such as community schools and fire departments, in gratitude of their service. 

 

Each November, we operate a Relay Center to collect shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. These boxes then go to our local Collection Center, and then to Charlotte for processing.  

 

Within our church we also make it a personal mission to fill and send shoe boxes. We provide funding for items to be purchased, packed, and postage for boxes sent. In the past few years, the Youth of the church have assisted in purchasing and packing the boxes. We are also a drop-off location for packed OCC Shoe Boxes.

 

Our men meet the last Tuesday of each month. Through brotherly fellowship they identify projects to assist those in need.  The Men’s Ministry Help Box is located in the Pastor’s office.  Handyman needs or suggestions can be placed in the box.
